Tina Turner was born on November 26, 1939, in Tennessee to her parents Floyd and Zelma Priscilla Bullock. She spent her childhood days in Nutbush, Tennessee, where her father worked at the Poindexter Farm.
She has two elder sisters Evelyn Juanita Currie and Ruby Alline Bullock. Turner went to the Flagg Grove Elementary School in Tennessee. As a young girl, she sang at various church choirs in her locality. When Turner was eleven years old, her parents got separated, and she moved to St. Louis with her mother.
As a teenager, Turner worked as a domestic worker for the Henderson family. Later, she went to Carver High School, where she was part of the basketball and cheerleading team. After completing graduation, Turner also worked as a nurse at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Missouri.
