Lou Ferrigno was born on the 9th of November in the year 1951 to Italian parents Matt and Victoria Ferrigno in the Brooklyn region of New York. However, he had suffered a chain of severe ear infections owing to which he had unfortunately lost 75% to 80% of his hearing ability which could not be cured until the age of three.
Since the age of thirteen, Ferrigno had stepped into the field of weightlifting. Besides, he had schooled himself in the St. Athanasius Grammar School. Later he had enrolled himself in the Brooklyn Technical High School for acquiring educational lessons on metalworking.
Career in Bodybuilding
Lou Ferrigno was honored with the eminent IFBB Mr. America title soon after his graduation in 1969. Henceforth, he had also bagged the Mr. Universe title in 1973 after which he had shifted to Columbus, Ohio to get training lessons from Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the years that followed 1974, Ferrigno had strained himself hard enough to beat his teacher Arnold and had stood second in the first attempt and third in the consecutive year for the Mr. Olympia title. This had encouraged publishing of the popular documentary entitled Pumping Iron which had garnered immense fame for Ferrigno.
Since bodybuilding did not earn him much, Ferrigno had decided to work in a Brooklyn factory for which he was paid $10 an hour, but could not continue further and had resigned within a few days.
Henceforth, Ferrigno had to serve as a defensive lineman in the Canadian Football team. Since he had no prior experience of the game, and had eventually broken a fellow player’s leg and was suspended from the match.
In 1977, he stood fourth in the competition for World’s Strongest Man. This was after a period of the gap from the competition events. Thereafter, in the consecutive years 1992 and 1993 he had stood 12th and 13th positions for the title of Mr. Olympia. In 1994, his comeback for the Masters Olympia against Robbie Robinson and Boyer Coe had inspired another documentary entitled “Stand Tall”.

In 1977, Lou Ferrigno had bagged the role of Hulk in the popular film “The Incredible Hulk”. In 1979, he was again seen in “Battle of the Network Stars” and “Trauma Center” in 1983.
He had been starred in the famous comedy film “I Love You, Man” in 2009 and had also trained Michael Jackson. Later he had hit the silver screens again in the animated series of “Adventure Time” in 2010, “The Avengers” in 2012, “Avenger” Age of Ultron” in 2015, “Star Trek Continues” in 2014 and “Avengers” in 2016.
