Artie Lange was born in Livingston, New Jersey, U.S. He is the son of Arthur Lange (father), who was a general contractor of television antennas and his mother, Judy. His family was a multi-ethnic since his father was of German and Native American descent, and his mother was of Italian descent.
Artie had a sister named Stacey Lange, who is a fashion designer. He attended Union High School and compelled to join summer school because of his poor grades. He knew he could perform better, but he was still proud of what he managed to do.
He had an interest in becoming a professional baseball player, but as he developed, he got a passion for making people laugh. That’s when he thought of being a stand-up comedian. Lange, at the age of 18, was arrested for a bank robbery attempt. He attended the Connecticut school of broadcasting for four months as part of his probation. Later on, he attended Setton University in South Orange, New Jersey.
