Aqua Introduction to Biological Cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria

Cyanobacteria are karyotic organisms, also known as blue-green algae and cyanobacteria; most cyanobacteria have a gel coat on their cell wall surface. Therefore, it is also called Myxomyces algae. Among all algae, cyanobacteria are the simplest and most primitive.
Cyanobacteria are single-celled organisms that do not have a nucleus, but the center of the cell contains nuclear material, which is often granular or reticular, with chromatin and pigments evenly dispersed in the cytoplasm. This nuclear material does not have a nuclear membrane and a nucleolus, but has the function of a nucleus, so it is called an intrinsic nucleus (or pseudo-nucleus). There is also a circular DNA plasmid in cyanobacteria, which serves as a carrier in genetic engineering. Like bacteria, cyanobacteria are "eukaryotes".
