Jindo Dog

South Korea The territory is not large, so there are not many native dog breeds. However, Han Gong has a dog breed that has been added to the ranks of world-famous dogs, which is their Natural Monument No. 53-Jindo Dog. Today we will take a look at this world-famous dog that Koreans are proud of and can represent Korea.
1. Introduction
The Jindo Dog, also known as the Tsushima Dog by the Japanese, is known for its sincerity to its owner, homing ability, bravery, and courage. Koreans are fond of them for their unique qualities such as clean habits, hunting ability, guarding nature, and non-deception.
Jindo Dogs are very loyal to their owners. "Being a master all day long will be a master for life", which means an upright character that never rebels. However, it is also this character that makes it unqualified to be a working dog. When Lee Myung-bo was in charge of South Korea's leadership, he proposed to the US government that South Korea's Jindo dogs be included in the US Federal Bureau of Investigation's service dog series. Lee Mingbo confidently believes that the pets of the Republic of Korea can fully meet the stringent requirements of their American owners and become globally recognized police dogs. However, later, the FBI "regrettably" sent the Jindo dogs back. The reason was simple: the Jindo dogs were too persistent and sincere, leading them to only follow some of the instructor's instructions and completely refuse to obey the guidance of other agents.
Does Jindo Dog have incredible homing ability? Even if they travel over mountains and ridges or across oceans and leave the dog in a remote place, they will return to their home neatly by taking a passenger ship or swimming. This situation is very rare. An experiment was conducted at a TV station in Gwangju in 1997, and the results were convincing.
2. History
The exact origin of the Jindo dog has not been elucidated, but it is said to be a medium-sized dog belonging to the Southeast Asian dog breeds descended from the dog breeds that people began to raise in the Stone Age. . It is said that the origin of the Jindo dog was brought to Korea from trading ships in the Southern Song Dynasty of China; it is also said that it was brought to Korea by Mongolia during the Anti-Japanese War of Sambyolcha in 1270 and was raised on the Jeju Island ranch. It is even more said that it was used as a military dog to guard war horses. Be persuasive. Because the Jindo dog grew up in Jindo, which was separated from the mainland for a long time, its shape was relatively pure and evolved into the Jindo dog today.
In 1938, Japanese Professor Mori Wesan conducted an investigation and comparison on the body, height and body hair of Jindo dogs, and found that Jindo dogs were privately owned livestock animals in Korea.. In 2005, according to surveys, the number of households raising adult dogs for more than 6 months has reached 70,000 households, showing a gradual decreasing trend.
In June 2000, the then South Korean leader Kim Dae-jung made an empirical inspection of North Korea. During this period, Kim Dae-jung specially gave Kim Jong-il, who loves famous dogs, two Korean Jindo dogs. Since then, Jindo dogs have become political stars in the pet world. Two years later, Kim Dae-jung visited China and also presented two Jindo puppies to Jiang Zemin, then President of China.
