Selkirk curly cat Cat, English name: Selkirk Rex. The Selkirk Rex is one of the newest natural species, which evolved from domestic cats. It was originally from Wyoming, USA, and developed its own unique breed characteristics after breeding with Persian cats (certain introduction). 1. The Origin of Selkirk Rex Cats

In 1987, a calico cat gave birth to a litter of puppies in a shelter in Wyoming. Cats, one of them is a curly-haired kitten. In 1987, a tabby cat in the shelter gave birth to a litter of kittens, one of which was a curly cat. That cat was the ancestor of the Selkirk curly cat. The curly cat was adopted by a Breeder in Wyoming, who mated the curly cat with one of her award-winning Persian cats. She named the resulting cat breed "Selkirk" in his honour.
